of the Multiple Listing Service?
The MLS provides members an opportunity to share listing
data and extends an offer of compensation.
Local MLS History
The Elkhart Multiple Listing Service was formed in 1963 with 6 originating offices and was owned by its members. In 1982, the MLS became part of the Elkhart Board of Realtors and expanded to include real estate offices in Goshen and surrounding towns and changed their name to the Multiple Listing Service of Elkhart County, Inc.
In 2012, the Multiple Listing Service of Elkhart County became one of the 13 original Founders of the Indiana Regional MLS. The Regional is made up of the following 14 MLS’s located throughout the state of Indiana:

IDX and VOW Services are centrally managed by the Indiana Regional MLS.
What is IDX?
IDX is an acronym for Internet Data Exchange. IDX is the policy created by the National Association of Realtors (NAR) to govern how MLS Brokers display MLS listing information on their websites. In simple terms, IDX policy gives MLS the authority to provide Brokers with the MLS listings fields so they can offer a public listing search on their websites. IDX is available to Managing Brokers and Agents with the Brokers signature.

IDX is an acronym for Internet Data Exchange. IDX is the policy created by the National Association of Realtors (NAR) to govern how MLS Brokers display MLS listing information on their websites. In simple terms, IDX policy gives MLS the authority to provide Brokers with the MLS listings fields so they can offer a public listing search on their websites. IDX is available to Managing Brokers and Agents with the Brokers signature.
Fees: All fees are prorated monthly based on a March 1st billing date. Setup and annual fee are required at time of contract signing.
- Smart Framing: One–Time Setup Fee – $50.00 | Annual Fee – $100.00
- RETS: One–Time Setup Fee – $250.00 | Annual Fee – $250.00
How does a member request IDX?
Contact IRMLS at [email protected] or call 574-651-7868. IRMLS will email the necessary documents and invoice. Contracts must be completed and fees paid prior to account activation.

Virtual Office Websites (“VOWs”) are Internet sites operated by MLS Participants through which they conduct online brokerage. This enables the Participant to establish relationships and work with clients and customers on the Internet in ways similar to how real estate professionals interact in a “brick and mortar” environment. Participants who operate an on-line brokerage sites agree to follow the VOW Rules & Regulations established by NAR and adopted by IRMLS.
